About RMTi

If we don’t feel safe, or if our system is stressed, it is very difficult to articulate, learn and perform to the best of our ability.

There are many reasons why our Primitive Reflexes don’t always fully integrate and, if they are still active, they can exert a huge amount of unconscious control over our actions and reactions. When we are unable to understand fully why we express – or are unable to express – ourselves in certain ways it can be very scary and frustrating – for us and the people around us.

Except for in times of extreme stress, many of us will be quite unaware that we have some active or retained reflexes. This might depend on the reflexes concerned – or what stage they are at in their developmental journey. We have, most likely, found our coping mechanisms. But, how do we respond to stressful situations? Does it affect our posture, our temper, our levels of discomfort or exhaustion, balance etc.?

What we are looking to do with Rhythmic Movement Training is assist in getting these reflexes past the point where they have become ‘stuck’, to help people reach their potential with more ease.

Active reflexes can dictate how we respond to stimuli but, once integrated, an individual should be able to learn and exert conscious control.

As a RMTi Consultant, it is my job to work with you and/or your child to establish which reflexes are still in need of integration. Then suggest, and support you, with an appropriate rhythmic movement plan.

Please bear in mind that RMT is a Treatment Plan and not a ‘one off’ or intermittent treatment.

Although, changes can happen very quickly, in order to fully establish and integrate the reflexes enough, to experience long term results will require the commitment of approximately 10 – 20 minutes each day. Often for a period of 12 – 18 months, along with monthly assessments. This can differ depending on the circumstances of each individual.

When working with children, full participation of the parent or caregiver is necessary and you will be shown, and supported with, the movements to assist with the reflex integration.

It is essential that these are carried out regularly over a period of time.

Follow up sessions should be set approximately every 4 weeks – this is because it takes 3 weeks for neuroplasticity to take place in the brain (this is the development of new learning and the establishing of neural pathways). Once this neuroplasticity has taken place there is a 10-day window for our systems understanding to progress and strengthen these neural pathways. Before building on them with new learning and further reflex integration.

Children’s treatments will likely involve a lot of play and games as well as the movements.

For adults with postural and mobility issues, I incorporate RMT and Myofascial Release, Isometric Pressure, Acupressure Points, Massage Techniques and Reflex Integration to help remove compensatory postural patterns and allow the learning of correct posture and mobility.

For Anxiety, Trauma and Stress related treatments, I use a combination of Vagal Nerve Rejuvenation with a relaxing Trigeminal Nerve face massage, RMT, Acupressure Points and Emotional Stress Release Visualisation and Reiki (if appropriate). This is especially useful for clients who prefer to stay fully clothed.

The myofascial release is particularly useful for clients that have a lot of inflammation and are find hands on treatment very painful.
